He has a diploma of Drumkit Teacher from the London College of Music.

He was born in 1971. He took drum lessons from Yalçın Kızılateş (Pepe Yalçın) and İlhan Özdeniz (Dede) at the Yamaha Music School. He worked with Ömür Gidel on jazz drum. He attended the drum camps and workshops carried out by Steve Smith, Jojo Mayer, Thomas Lang, Carmine Appice and George Mel. He has performed rock, blues, and jazz in National and International concerts and festivals. Among these are the 9th Side International Culture and Art Festival, the 6th İzmir International Poetry Meeting “Poetry and Blues,” and the 14th İzmir Book Fair Music Events. He has taught at different studios in İzmir as well as Işıkkent School, Güzsanat, and İzmir Fine Arts Center from 2000 to 2010. Since 2010, he has been teaching at his own studio and performing with different bands playing jazz, blues, and fusion. Among the prominent master musicians, he was influenced by are Steve Smith, Billy Cobham, Jack DeJohnette, Jojo Mayer, Dave Weckl, John Scofield, Robben Ford, and Miles Davis, and Miles Davis school of musicians.

Uğur Doğruyol uses Pearl drum sets, Istanbul Agop cymbals, Remo leather, and Vic Firth SJM drumsticks.

Besides music, he is interested in cooking, cycling, Formula 1, and art.
